Matt Wichman

Matt Wichman

Inspection Team Leader

Project Manager Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Purdue University, 2001 What is your favorite project that you have worked on in your career? Washington Indiana Constructed Wetlands for CSO Treatment. I only filled in for a couple weeks on the inspection but it was a very important project for the town and ended up receiving several awards including the 2013 ACEC National Engineering Excellence Honor Award. The project utilized a 5 Million gallon storage tank to receive the wastewater before being treated at the plant and any overflow from the tank flowed thru two 84 inch pipes before entering a 27 acre constructed wetland for treatment. Who has been most influential in your career? I would say my family. At a young age I was taught the value or hard work and sticking with whatever it is you’re doing until it is complete. What is your favorite place to visit on vacation? A tossup between Charleston SC and Savannah GA. Do you have any hobbies? Small scale farming

Rodney Kelly, P.S.

Rodney Kelly, P.S.

Field Surveying Manager

Project Manager License: P.S. in Indiana and Kentucky What is your favorite project that you have worked on in your career? I worked on several boundary surveys in the past; one very interesting survey, because of its size and complexity, was located in Wildcat Township, Tipton County. Its span was over 12 sections. Another project required retracing a tract of land back to the original signed patent by Andrew Jackson, which I was able to personally review. What is your favorite place to visit on vacation? My favorite places to visit on vacation are Florida beaches, Vegas Casinos, or anyplace new that I haven’t been to before. What character trait do you possess which makes you a great surveyor? I love to figure out all the possibilities and problem solve through issues that are historic in nature. Almost all boundary surveys have a uniqueness about them, which is very interesting. I was taught by my predecessors and peers in surveying there is an explanation for everything when evidence is evaluated and weighted correctly. Do you have any hobbies? My hobbies include spending time with my daughter (basketball, softball, golf) and tattoos. I like the art of “INK”.

Transportation Engineering Manager

Project Manager License: P.E. in Indiana Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Purdue University, 2010 What is your favorite project that you have worked on in your career? The Transform I-66 Outside the Beltway Design/Build Project for the Virginia Department of Transportation. This was a $2 billion project which will alleviate congestion in the existing I-66 corridor outside of Washington D.C. and provide convenient public transit options for commuters into our nation’s capital. Who has been most influential in your career? My dad. He taught me the importance of a strong work ethic and getting the job done without complaining. What character trait do you possess which makes you a great engineer? Proactive and positive communication. Many engineers are introverted and dread talking to both clients and the public. I enjoy getting out and talking to people about projects that effect their communities. What is your favorite historical feat of engineering? The Golden Gate Bridge. It’s a majestic structure in a majestic setting. It’s astounding to think it was constructed 80 years ago.
