Senior Accountant

Etica is seeking an eager, knowledgeable, and ready to take charge Senior Accountant based in our Indianapolis headquarters.

The role of the Senior Accountant is to assist in the preparation and analysis of complete, timely and accurate financial records. Responsible for the preparation and review of various account reconciliations, preparation with tax filings, and preparation of financial statements along with variance analysis of historical trends. In addition, this role also assists in the job costing with analysis of variances between budget and actual. Preparation, maintenance, and monitoring adherence to accounting policies/procedures and internal controls. The role is based in our Indianapolis headquarters. Flexibility with remote work can be discussed, based on need.


Responsibilities would include but are not limited to:
  • Assist in month-end close process:
    • Preparation of specific account reconciliations in an accurate and timely manner
    • Preparation of specific journal entries in an accurate and timely manner
    • Aid in the general ledger accounting for the corporate enterprises
    • Make recommendations for improvements within the close processes
  • Preparation and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures:
    • Preparation of accounting policies that the Company does not yet have in place
    • Monitor adherence to company policies and procedures including internal controls
    • Assess and evaluate current accounting practices to help develop solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting
  • Assistance with job costing of projects:
    • Maintain and follow the monthly invoicing calendar and assist in preparation of invoices to clients
    • Review and discuss project reports and profitability with Project Managers
    • Review interdepartmental rate requests
    • Prepare and review processes for adherence with FAR Part 31 – contract cost principles and procedures
    • Assist with preparing files for auditors and answering auditor inquires
    • Ad-hoc projects as assigned by the Controller

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting: CPA or MBA preferred
  • Minimum of three to five years’ experience in finance and accounting
  • Innovative thinker and self-starter
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and follow up on tasks and perform multiple responsibilities efficiently and accurately at the same time
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Solid mathematical aptitude
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills; experience with Pivot tables a plus
  • Familiarity with ERP platforms and reporting overlays
  • High integrity and confidentiality
